For me, the power of the book is how Jamie Turner and Reshma Shah offer a realistic approach to understanding social media as an effective business marketing strategy. Instead of the all too frequent get rich quick schemes put forward by many social media guides, the authors provide a real world based road map to launching, utilizing, and measuring an effective social media campaign. The authors provide a good combination of theory and practical ideas for using social media correctly, and dispense with the often overdone promotion of social media as quick fix for marketers.
The addition of a crucial section on measuring the real return on investment provided by a social media plan is a very important part of the book. The concept of ROI is often neglected by social media marketing experts. That is not the case with this book, as the premise of return on investment is central to the authors' overall social media approach.
