The Humiliation of America

Paul Craig Roberts
Infowars
January 14, 2009
“Early Friday morning the secretary of state was considering bringing the cease-fire resolution to a UNSC vote and we didn’t want her to vote for it,” Olmert said. “I said ‘get President Bush on the phone.’ They tried and told me he was in the middle of a lecture in Philadelphia. I said ‘I’m not interested, I need to speak to him now.’ He got down from the podium, went out and took the phone call.”
"Let me see if I understand this,” wrote a friend in response to news reports that Israeli Prime Minister Olmert ordered President Bush from the podium where he was giving a speech to receive Israel’s instructions about how the United States had to vote on the UN resolution. “On September 11th, President Bush is interrupted while reading a story to school children and told the World Trade Center had been hit–and he went on reading. Now, Olmert calls about a UN resolution when Bush is giving a speech and Bush leaves the stage to take the call. There exists no greater example of a master-servant relationship.”
Olmert gloated as he told Israelis how he had shamed US Secretary of State Condi Rice by preventing the American Secretary of State from supporting a resolution that she had helped to craft. Olmert proudly related how he had interrupted President Bush’s speech in order to give Bush his marching orders on the UN vote.
Israeli politicians have been bragging for decades about the control they exercise over the US government. In his final press conference, President Bush, deluded to the very end, said that the whole world respects America. In fact, when the world looks at America, what it sees is an Israeli colony.
Responding to mounting reports from the Red Cross and human rights organizations of Israel’s massive war crimes in Gaza, the United Nations Human Rights Council voted 33-1 on January 12 to condemn Israel for grave offenses against human rights.

On January 13, the London Times reported that Israelis have gathered on a hillside overlooking Gaza to enjoy the slaughter of Palestinians in what the Times calls “the ultimate spectator sport.”
It is American supplied F-16 fighter jets, helicopter gunships, missiles, and bombs that are destroying the civilian infrastructure of Gaza and murdering the Palestinians who have been packed into the tiny strip of land. What is happening to the Palestinians herded into the Gaza Ghetto is happening because of American money and weapons. It is just as much an attack by the United States as an attack by Israel. The US government is complicit in the war crimes.
Yet in his farewell press conference on January 12, Bush said that the world respects America for its compassion.
The compassion of bombing a UN school for girls?
The compassion of herding 100 Palestinians into one house and then shelling it?
The compassion of bombing hospitals and mosques?
The compassion of depriving 1.5 million Palestinians of food, medicine, and energy?
The compassion of violently overthrowing the democratically elected Hamas government?
The compassion of blowing up the infrastructure of one of the poorest and most deprived people on earth?
The compassion of abstaining from a Security Council vote condemning these actions?
And this is a repeat of what the Israelis and Americans did to Lebanon in 2006, what the Americans did to Iraqis for six years and are continuing to do to Afghans after seven years. And still hope to do to the Iranians and Syrians.
In 2002 I designated George W. Bush “the White House Moron.” If there ever was any doubt about this designation, Bush’s final press conference dispelled it.
Bush talked about connecting the dots, but Bush has failed to connect any dots for eight solid years. “Our” president was a puppet for a cabal led by Dick Cheney and a handful of Jewish neoconservatives, who took control of the Pentagon, the State Department, the National Security Council, the CIA, and “Homeland Security.” From these power positions, the neocon cabal used lies and deception to invade Afghanistan and Iraq, pointless wars that have cost Americans $3 trillion, while millions of Americans lose their jobs, their pensions, and their access to health care.
“These obviously very difficult economic times,” Bush said in his press conference, “started before my presidency.”
Bush has plenty of liberal company in failing to connect a $3 trillion dollar war with hard times. The Center on Budget and Policy Priorities blames Bush’s tax cut, not the wars, for “the fiscal deterioration.”
Bush told the White House Press Corps, a useless collection of non-journalists, that the two mistakes of his invasion of Iraq were: (1) Putting up the “mission accomplished” banner on the aircraft carrier, which, he said, “sent the wrong message,” and (2) the absence of the alleged weapons of mass destruction that he used to justify the invasion.
Although Bush now admits that there were not any such weapons in Iraq, Bush said that the invasion was still the right thing to do.
The deaths of 1.25 million Iraqis, the displacement of 4 million Iraqis, and the destruction of a country’s infrastructure and economy are merely the collateral damage associated with “bringing freedom and democracy” to the Middle East.
Unless George W. Bush is the best actor in human history, he truly believes what he told the White House Press Corps.
What Bush did not explain is how America is respected when its people put a moron in charge for eight years.

The Crisis of Common Sense: Is It So Difficult To Understand The Financial Crisis?

Global Research, January 1, 2009

Thinking & Common Sense

God gave us a brain to think, to think naturally and in simple terms, and not in a complicated way.
When we think naturally and use common sense to address problems we will be able to arrive at simple solutions.
But our education system tortures us mentally and forces us to think in complicated ways. Our teachers, economists, politicians and so-called experts in God and religion make mountains out of mole-hills, turning simple truths to complex arguments and “scientific theories and equations”.
These experts need to make things look difficult to survive and to make sure that we have to rely upon them for solutions. It is often said that, “in the land of the blind, the man with one eye is the King”.
Thinking used to be a pleasure and so very invigorating. But now experts have ensured that thinking is difficult and tiring, so burdensome, that we don’t think at all.
The result is that common sense is thrown out of the window, and we have been conditioned to rely on our mental crutch, the so-called experts to think for us.
How sad.
It Is So Difficult To Understand The Financial Crisis
Many have expressed to me that they are overwhelmed by the complexity of the global financial tsunami and are absolutely confused as to how to prepare and survive the crisis.
When I explained in simple terms, they refused to accept the explanations as to them “it was too simple. It must be more complicated as otherwise how can the crisis become a global fiasco?
Consider the following and my simple explanation:
1. financial engineering: new ways of gambling
2. Investors: gamblers
3. Stock & Futures Markets: casinos
4. Financial Analysts: casinos’ salesmen / women
5. Bonds: I.O.Us.
6. Banks: Dishonest Money-lenders (actual money-lenders licensed not as banks, but as money-lenders, cannot create “money out of thin air”. They have to use their own capital – 100% to lend)
7. Currencies / fiat money toilet papers
8. Derivative markets: ponzi scheme
So many people have difficulty accepting my explanations as the simple reality. This is even after the recent exposé of the US$50 Billion fraud by Bernard Madoff, the former chairman of NASDAQ. He declared to the FBI, that his scheme was essentially a Ponzi scheme (i.e. using one set of “investors’ money” to pay off an earlier set of “investors”).
Banks worldwide have collapsed!
Why?
Two reasons – (i) they gambled at the casino and lost trillions and (ii) almost all their borrowers that borrowed huge sums (leveraging 30 times or more i.e. if a borrower has $1 million capital, he can borrower $30 million) have defaulted.
Common sense tells us that if our income is only $X and we borrow 30 times in excess of $X, there is no way that we can repay the debt, unless our gambling bets pay out in excess of 30 times the original amount of $X.
Common sense tells us that if our total family monthly income is e.g. RM3,500, we cannot afford a lifestyle that requires a monthly expenditure of RM10,000 financed by credit-cards with only 5% monthly payment on the outstanding. When interests start piling up on the accumulated monthly outstanding, a point will be reached whereby the cardholder cannot even keep up with the payment of the interests. The cardholder defaults and he gets sued by the lawyers acting for the credit-card companies and or banks.
Common sense tells us that if you are conned into buying something allegedly worth US$500,000 when its actual value is US$5,000 and you borrowed to buy the inflated “asset”, there is no way that you will continue paying the installments and the interests on such an acquisition. The bank on the other hand is stuck with an “asset” supposedly worth US$500,000 but its actual worth is only US$5,000 or less.
Common sense tells us that the banks and the governments (fearing a systemic banking collapse) will lie and cover up the con-game until it cannot cover up anymore as too many banks are having the same problems and more importantly, the con-game cannot be covered-up anymore because borrowers are walking away and saying to the banks and governments – “You conned us, you take the blame.”
Common sense tells us that these so-called assets which “investors” have invested cannot be real assets, but mere papers masquerading as assets (such as CDOs, synthetic CDOs and CDO Squared – toilet papers). Therefore, so-called sophisticated “investors” were borrowing toilet papers to “invest” in toilet paper assets!
Common sense tells us, and thinking naturally and in simple terms will enable us to conclude, that only greedy people can be lured by such con-games and that when gambling at such casinos, these so-called sophisticated investors were not using common sense.
Common sense tells us that we, the remaining hardworking people should not allow any government to use our tax revenue to bailout such reckless and greedy b@#st@#ds.
Common sense tells us that when gamblers lose millions at the Las Vegas, Macau or Genting Highlands casinos, no government can justify and or dare to bailout such stupid and greedy gamblers. We would vote them out of office.
Common sense tells us that since all these “clever people” by their reckless, irresponsible and fraudulent conduct have destroyed the economy, they should be prosecuted and sent to jail and the keys thrown away!
Common sense tells us that a system that allows such frauds and gambling should be banned and made illegal.
Common sense tells us that when common thieves rob a jewelry shop or a bank, they are sentenced to long terms of imprisonment and whipped as well, these sophisticated thieves should be likewise be whipped and sent to prison for life imprisonment, as their destruction is a million times more devastating than the common thieves!
Common sense tells us that when times are hard, we should be prudent and thrifty to overcome and survive the hardships, so why are we encouraged to borrow more and more and to spend, spend and spend?
Common sense tells us that when a shop is offering a discount, a reduction in the price of a product, the shop-keeper is encouraging us to spend and buy the goods.
Common sense tells us therefore, interest charges and penalty interests are the cost of a debt / borrowings from the perspective of the borrower and revenues and profits, when the debt is fully paid, from the point of view of the lender.
Common sense tells us that it is not out of kindness that banks lower interest charges. Like the shop-keeper, it is to encourage more borrowings. More borrowings mean more debts and ultimately more profits for the bankers.
Common sense tells us that we should not get into debts unnecessarily and not to borrow to purchase things that are not within our income and our ability to repay.
Common sense tells us that we should not commit fraud and or be a party to a fraud.
Common sense tells us more importantly, not to be greedy and lust for material wealth.
Common sense tells us that we should be angry, very angry with the so-called “sophisticated and up-right people” who commit fraud and the regulatory authorities and political leaders who cover-up their crimes.
Finally, common sense tells us that we should take action to put a stop to these crimes and scandals.
Please use common sense and do something before it is too late!

FDA Stuns Scientists, Declares Mercury in Fish to be Safe for Infants, Children, Expectant Mothers!

Mike Adams
Natural News
Thursday, Dec 18, 2008
In a truly astonishing betrayal of public safety (even for the FDA), the U.S. Food and Drug Administration today revoked its warning about mercury in fish, saying that eating mercury-contaminated fish no longer poses any health threat to children, pregnant women, nursing mothers and infants.
Last week, the FDA declared trace levels of melamine to be safe in infant formula. A few weeks earlier, it said the plastics chemical Bisphenol-A was safe for infants to drink. Now it says children can eat mercury, too. Is there any toxic substance in the food that the FDA thinks might be dangerous? (Aspartame, MSG, sodium nitrite and now mercury…)
This FDA decision on mercury in fish has alarmed EPA scientists who called it “scientifically flawed and inadequate,” reports the Washington Post. Even better, the Environmental Working Group (www.EWG.org) issued a letter to the EPA, saying “It’s a commentary on how low FDA has sunk as an agency. It was once a fierce protector of America’s health, and now it’s nothing more than a patsy for polluters.”

Is anyone really surprised? The FDA is a drug-pushing, people-betraying, scientifically illiterate criminal organization that, time and time again, seeks only to protect the profits of powerful corporations whose products poison the people. This statement is no longer a mere opinion. It is an observable fact based on the FDA’s own pattern of behavior and its outlandish decisions that predictably betray the American public. The real reason this is happening
You want to know the REAL reason the FDA is easing up on its warning about mercury in fish? It’s because the agency is being relentlessly pounded over two related issues: Mercury in dental fillings and mercury preservatives in vaccines. And the FDA can’t keep up its lie about the “safety” of vaccines and mercury fillings if it has already declared mercury to be dangerous in fish, right?
To the criminal minds running the FDA, the clever solution is to revoke the warning about mercury in fish. Thus, the FDA takes the position that all mercury is safe, and suddenly they’re off the hook on mercury fillings and thimerosal in vaccines.
In other words, the FDA has just aligned itself as a defender of one of the most neurotoxic substances that’s ever been found. Only a truly corrupt regulator could even attempt to defend such a position, and only a truly insane individual could argue that mercury exposure is safe for infants, children and expectant mothers. Not coincidentally, mercury exposure causes insanity (look up the historical term “mad as a hatter”).
Given that most of the FDA decision makers probably have mercury fillings in their mouths and mercury molecules lodged in their brains from getting their vaccine shots, it’s no stretch to consider the possibility that the FDA decision have, in a very strict medical sense, lost their minds due to mercury exposure. There’s hardly any other way to explain the mad behavior of FDA officials.
I think it’s time we called for an FDA MUTINY and declared the leaders of that agency to be too incompetent to run it anymore. These people need to be relieved of command before their hazardous pronouncements lead to yet more consumers being poisoned or killed. The FDA scientists, in my opinion, should revolt (in a non-violent way, of course) against the politically-motivated decision makers spewing all this “eat more poison” advice.

Words associated with Christianity and British history taken out of children's dictionary

Words associated with Christianity, the monarchy and British history have been dropped from a leading dictionary for children.

Oxford University Press has removed words like "aisle", "bishop", "chapel", "empire" and "monarch" from its Junior Dictionary and replaced them with words like "blog", "broadband" and "celebrity". Dozens of words related to the countryside have also been culled.

The publisher claims the changes have been made to reflect the fact that Britain is a modern, multicultural, multifaith society.

But academics and head teachers said that the changes to the 10,000 word Junior Dictionary could mean that children lose touch with Britain's heritage.

"We have a certain Christian narrative which has given meaning to us over the last 2,000 years. To say it is all relative and replaceable is questionable," said Professor Alan Smithers, the director of the centre for education and employment at Buckingham University. "The word selections are a very interesting reflection of the way childhood is going, moving away from our spiritual background and the natural world and towards the world that information technology creates for us."

An analysis of the word choices made by the dictionary lexicographers has revealed that entries from "abbey" to "willow" have been axed. Instead, words such as "MP3 player", "voicemail" and "attachment" have taken their place.

Lisa Saunders, a worried mother who has painstakingly compared entries from the junior dictionaries, aimed at children aged seven or over, dating from 1978, 1995, 2000, 2002, 2003 and 2007, said she was "horrified" by the vast number of words that have been removed, most since 2003.

"The Christian faith still has a strong following," she said. "To eradicate so many words associated with the Christianity will have a big effect on the numerous primary schools who use it."

Ms Saunders realised words were being removed when she was helping her son with his homework and discovered that "moss" and "fern", which were in editions up until 2003, were no longer listed.

"I decide to take a closer look and compare the new version to the other editions," said the mother of four from Co Down, Northern Ireland. "I was completely horrified by the vast number of words which have been removed. We know that language moves on and we can't be fuddy-duddy about it but you don't cull hundreds of important words in order to get in a different set of ICT words."

Anthony Seldon, the master of Wellington College, a leading private school in Berkshire, said: "I am stunned that words like "saint", "buttercup", "heather" and "sycamore" have all gone and I grieve it.

"I think as well as being descriptive, the Oxford Junior Dictionary, has to be prescriptive too, suggesting not just words that are used but words that should be used. It has a duty to keep these words within usage, not merely pander to an audience. We are looking at the loss of words of great beauty. I would rather have "marzipan" and "mistletoe" then "MP3 player."

Oxford University Press, which produces the junior edition, selects words with the aid of the Children's Corpus, a list of about 50 million words made up of general language, words from children's books and terms related to the school curriculum. Lexicographers consider word frequency when making additions and deletions.

Vineeta Gupta, the head of children's dictionaries at Oxford University Press, said: "We are limited by how big the dictionary can be – little hands must be able to handle it – but we produce 17 children's dictionaries with different selections and numbers of words.

"When you look back at older versions of dictionaries, there were lots of examples of flowers for instance. That was because many children lived in semi-rural environments and saw the seasons. Nowadays, the environment has changed. We are also much more multicultural. People don't go to Church as often as before. Our understanding of religion is within multiculturalism, which is why some words such as "Pentecost" or "Whitsun" would have been in 20 years ago but not now."

She said children's dictionaries were trialed in schools and advice taken from teachers. Many words are added to reflect the age-related school curriculum.

Alex Jones Assaulted By MSNBC

MSNBC Security Assaults Alex Jones & Equipment with Deadly Weapon

Aaron Dykes
Infowars.com
September 7, 2008

Alex Jones and 9/11 Truthers take over MSNBC for some two hours during its August 28 live broadcast during the DNC– despite the attempt by MSNBC staff members to silence free speech.

A close video analysis now shows that it was MSNBC staff members who attempted to silence free speech by physically assaulting a group of 9/11 truthers led by Alex Jones during the takeover of a live broadcast at the DNC in Denver.

One staff member, who displayed his credentials to get backstage after assaulting Alex Jones, is even seen on camera using either a knife or a wirecutting tool to severe the cord to Jones’ bullhorn– clearly demonstrating that his intent was to destroy equipment and that he was not simply caught up in the moment.

An MSNBC crew member– who used his credentials to re-enter the backstage area after the incident– deliberately used a knife or cutting device to severe Alex’s bullhorn.

Members of the primarily pro-Obama crowd also pushed Jones and his crew members and assaulted and smudged their cameras and equipment, with the cooperation and participation of the MSNBC crew– one of whom smudged his own saliva all over an obviously expensive (and sensitive) camera lens. A man in the crowd also flagrantly hit cameraman Richard Reeves, who was quietly filming from a few feet away and gave no pretext for personal attack.

Alex Jones & crew were not deterred, however, and returned some fifteen minutes later with Luke Rudkowski, several members of We Are Change Colorado and two more bullhorns– boldly asserting that any attempt to silence free speech would be met with a literal redoubling of efforts.

9/11 Truth thus challenged the tightly-controlled corporate media by dominating the airwaves with chants of ‘9/11 was an inside job,’ ‘Investigate 9/11′ and other statements for nearly two hours on MSNBC– positions that are never reported on the mainstream media cable channels.

The chants were so loud that MSNBC host Chris Matthews apologized to his guests as he struggled to maintain calm– admitting that his crew was trying to muffle the audio behind him. Matthews also distorted the views of 9/11 Truth, calling them "screwballs" and making a claim that the group believes, "in fact, that George W. Bush was sitting somewhere in the White House basement with one of these plungers and he blew up these buildings"– which is not a claim asserted by the 9/11 truth movement.

Matthews went on to tell Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchinson (R-TX) that "They are truly crazy people. Just so you know, we’re not muffling intelligent dissent here."

Although the MSNBC crew and sycophantic crowd were obviously disappointed that 9/11 truthers returned once again with bullhorns, the police refused to acquiesce and violate free speech, so the demonstration continued throughout the broadcast.

As another crew took over for Keith Olbermann’s Countdown broadcast, one of his producers relayed a message directly asking that the 9/11 truthers allow his broadcast to go on uninterrupted. Alex Jones and Luke Rudkowski agreed to do so due to the fact that Olbermann was the one and only MSM broadcaster who was unafraid to report on information about Dick Cheney and staff mulling over the idea of shooting U.S. Navy SEALS in a false-flag incident at the Strait of Hormuz as a provocation for war with Iran, as the New Yorker’s Seymour Hersh revealed.

Rudkowski declared over the bullhorn his reasons for agreeing to Olbermann’s request– that he has reported truthfully like a real journalist– and Keith Olbermann himself responded over the balcony with a cue– a big "OK" sign of mutual agreement.

A week later, 9/11 Truthers in Minnesota took over more than one MSNBC broadcast outside of the RNC, furthering the takeover of mainstream media broadcasts and ensuring that MSNBC themselves have taken notice of the issue. The security there talked down to them and kept them from using a bullhorn.

Treason At The DNC From Fox News - 'chillem chillem'

Kurt Nimmo
Infowars
August 27, 2008

Calling into his nationally syndicated radio show today from the DNC in Denver, Alex Jones provided more evidence that Michelle Malkin and her dirty tricks crew attempted to set-up him up. Alex revealed that he has video footage documenting the set-up and this will be made public upon his return from Denver.

Citibank

Malkin and company leave the scene on August 25. Note the "photographer" wearing a white ball cap at the left.

As we reported yesterday, several people associated with Malkin and apparently taking orders from her people attempted to claim Alex threatened the neocon blogger by chanting “Kill Malkin,” a lie parroted by neocon bloggers. As it turns out, two individuals not associated with Alex Jones, described as “frat boys,” were responsible for making the threatening comment and then attempted to claim Alex made the comment. Several videos of the confrontation provide conclusive evidence that Alex did not make the comment. Fox News commentator John Gibson tried to claim Alex had “mind controlled” the crowd into calling for the murder of Malkin.

Additional video shows a man associated with Malkin, posing as a photographer, telling the police that Alex had threatened her. On the following day, this man, wearing a white ball cap he wore the day before, was confronted on camera over his participation in the orchestrated event. He quickly went over and talked with the police and was caught on video leaving with two cops mounted on bicycles.

As the photo here shows, Malkin left the scene with her body guard, who bumped Alex during the confrontation, and the photographer in the white ball cap. The photo was posted on the Face the State website. “Instigated by Alex Jones, a Texas conspiracy theorist and radio show host, a crowd quickly swarmed around Malkin after she was discovered taking photos of the event,” FTS staff claims. “As the crowd of agitators grew in numbers, at one point up to approximately 25, Malkin began to move her way out of the mob and fled to her car for safety.” In fact, she “fled” because she was unable to debate the fact she has called for putting Americans in concentration camps.

Fresh from her spanking at the DNC, Michelle Malkin appears on Fox News and lamely attempts to downplay Alex calling her out as an authoritarian in favor of concentration camps. Malkin just can’t help herself, she just can’t stop telling lies. She characterizes Alex Jones as a “fringe talk show host,” a statement completely at odds with the facts. Alex Jones’ radio show is a syndicated on over 60 stations and is the number one listened to internet-talk-radio show over Shoutcast. Hardly fringe. Infowars.com trounces Malkin’s site, according to Alexa statistics. In other words, it is fair to say Michelle Malkin is the fringe figure and would even be more so if not for the generosity of Fox News.

Ed Comment: This is a very good and informative in depth analysis of how the perverted news media manipulates both the viewer and the “conspiracy nut” interviewee (in this case Professor Kevin Barrett) using Neuro-linguistic programming, psycho sorcery, hand gestures, words and other techniques to disrupt, derail and discredit the topic, the professor and at the same time shaping and forming the opinion of the unconscious and unintuitive viewer.
