Happiness At Work by Jessica Pryce-Jones - Book review

Happiness at Work

Maximizing Your Psychological Capital for Success

"The fundamental point of being happy at work is to enable you to achieve your full potential and to make the most of the highs and manage the lows on the way", writes happiness expert, educator, speaker, and Founder and CEO of the Oxford based consultancy iOpener, Jessica Pryce-Jones in her important and research based book Happiness at Work: Maximizing Your Psychological Capital for Success. The author demonstrates, with real world examples, of how employees who are happier at work achieve their highest potential, earn more, are promoted more readily, and are much more productive than unhappy staff members.

Jessica Pryce-Jones recognizes that the very concept of workplace happiness has not been given the study and attention that it so richly deserves. The author undertook an enormous five year study of the concept and implications of happiness at both work and at home. The result of the intensive interviews underlined the critical importance of workplace happiness, and its correlation with a happier personal life. At the same time, the extensive research proved that companies benefit, as do the staff members, of building and maintaining a happier work environment. The author based the book on four principles:

* You are responsible for your own levels of happiness
* You have much more room to maneuver than you think
* There is always a choice
* Self-awareness is an essential first step

Jessica Pryce-Jones (photo left) understands that happiness in the workplace is a state of mind where people choose to increase their performance, while their companies boost their overall productivity. For the author, employee happiness is a win-win outcome that benefits both the staff member and the organization. To build personal workplace happiness, Jessica Pryce-Jones offers a five part outline to achieve success:

* Contribution
* Conviction
* Culture
* Commitment
* Confidence

Combined with the organizational values of Pride, Trust, and Recognition, the "5-Cs", form the foundation for each employee to maximize their happiness, while boosting their performance.

For me, the power of the book is how Jessica Pryce-Jones provides a comprehensive, research based case for the positive benefit of workplace happiness. Through her exhaustive study of both individuals and organizations, the author makes clear that happiness creates a better work and life experience for employees. At the same time, Jessica Pryce-Jones demonstrates that employers would be well served by building a happier workplace culture, as happier staff members are much more productive than those who dislike their jobs. The author dispels a number of myths that have grown up around and about happiness, and replaces the myths with research based evidence of the importance of happy employees to an organization. The author also describes a system for creating an organizational culture of happiness that benefits both the employer and the employee.

I highly recommend the landmark book Happiness at Work: Maximizing Your Psychological Capital for Success by Jessica Pryce-Jones, to anyone seeking a research backed analysis of the often misunderstood topic of workplace happiness. This book breaks new ground in the overlooked, yet very critical area of the importance and development of employee happiness.

Read the fascinating and paradigm altering book Happiness at Work: Maximizing Your Psychological Capital for Success by Jessica Pryce-Jones, and discover how happier workers are more productive, and how companies that encourage workplace happiness are more profitable and hold a competitive advantage over their rivals. Let the power of happier employees propel your business to leadership in your industry.

Female Nomad and Friends by Rita Golden Gelman - Book review

Female Nomad and Friends

Tales of Breaking Free and Breaking Bread Around the World

By: Rita Golden Gelman

Published: June 1, 2010
Format: Trade Paperback, 352pp
ISBN-13: 9780307588012
ISBN-10: 0307588017
Publisher: Crown Publishing Group

"I'm happy to own both the ordinariness and the craziness, especially if they encourage people to get out there and experience the exhilaration that comes from connecting", writes nomad and author Rita Golden Gelman, in her delightful and always serendipitous anthology Female Nomad and Friends: Tales of Breaking Free and Breaking Bread Around the World. The author presents her own words, and those of her many friends, as they share stories, food and recipes, and their special places around the world, in the joy of finding connections between people.

Rita Golden Gelman is not your typical travel and food writer. As a nomad, with no permanent address, the author travels the globe meeting with fascinating women, sharing stories and breaking bread as friends. The book is more than a travelogue, but is a collection of deeply personal connections. While the common bond may be wonderful food enjoyed between friends from all over the world, the stories are written and felt on a deeper emotional level. The tales are often funny, offbeat, and even quirky, but all are written from the heart, and create a lasting impression on the reader. The inclusion, by the author, of each of these memories displays her love of her life, of exotic adventures, and especially of her friends.

Rita Golden Gelman (photo left) and her friends don't write just for themselves. The stories are about life, and living it to the fullest with friends and making deep connections with others. The writers encourage others to follow their example, and take chances and meet new people, especially those who may not be met ordinarily. The author travels in the less developed parts of the world, including slums and other areas of extreme poverty. She visits with people who lack money, status, and even many of the aspects of modern living that are often considered essential. While the women with whom the author shares meals may lack material wealth, they are wealthy in terms of love, sharing, friends, and family. These stories are about what really matters in life.

For me, the power of the book is how Rita Golden Gelman and her friends share the spirit of making deep human connections. While the author travels the world, and meets women in very different homes, she always finds love and compassion. At the same time, the author and her many friends share meals. Since time immemorial, the breaking of bread together has meant friendship and shared experience. This book reflects that timeless tradition of sharing meals with others. As a special added bonus, the book contains many recipes for the dishes mentioned in the stories. By following the recipes, and sharing the food described in the collection, the reader is able to find a richer, sensuous connection with the writers and their lives. Because of her firm commitment to others, the author is donating the returns on her book to help the less fortunate.

I highly recommend the touching and memorable collection Female Nomad and Friends: Tales of Breaking Free and Breaking Bread Around the World by Rita Golden Gelman, to anyone seeking a book about food and travel that goes far beyond those topics, to include the rich tapestry of life everywhere. The author encourages risk taking in life, and stepping outside one's own comfort zone to experience the unusual and rewarding aspects of connections.

Read the wonderful book Female Nomad and Friends: Tales of Breaking Free and Breaking Bread Around the World by Rita Golden Gelman, and begin making your own interpersonal connections. You don't have to travel around the world to share food with new and old friends. You can find joy and happiness through shared connection in your own home town or city. Become a nomad in your own life, and discover the richness and diversity of being with others.

Next-Generation Marketing Strategies for Making Millions Online

By: Scott Fox

Published: June 2009
Format: Hardcover, 336pp
ISBN-13: 9780814414620
ISBN-10: 0814414621
Publisher: AMACOM

"It;s a new world. Marketing has evolved from a series of one-way blasts at consumers to a living, breathing, two-way communications thing that needs constant care, attention, staffing, and (ideally) interaction with the customer audience, writes successful online marketing entrepreneur Scott Fox, in his very practical and no nonsense book e-Riches 2.0: Next-Generation Marketing Strategies for Making Millions Online. The author describes how to establish a money making internet based business using the advanced internet and social media tools of Web 2.0,

Scott Fox understands that modern internet marketing is about creating engagement with an audience. Social media represents a conversation with people, creating a sense of trust, that turns into a customer relationship over time. Scott Fox doesn't stop at the customer level. Through community building, a customer evolves into a loyal fan, and an evangelist for the products and services on the one hand, and for the community itself on the other. Interaction with the audience through many different contact points forms the basis of the book's step by step internet marketing strategy. Whether through tried and true tactics like e-mail newsletters and public relations, or by interaction and conversation through social media and blogs, Scott Fox presents proven, effective techniques for creating a successful online business.

Scott Fox (photo left) moves beyond most online business books by presenting real world, proven methods of approaching and building an audience. Instead of platitudes and theory, Scott Fox offers diverse and workable solutions. Should the online marketer prefers the more mainstream concepts of e-mail newsletters, public relations campaigns, article submissions, search engines, or pay per click advertising, the book contains valuable chapters on those topics. For marketers seeking more information on social media, blogs, podcasting, webinars, and video, there are useful and informative sections on each of those topics. Scott Fox never wavers from his commitment to guiding aspiring internet marketers to interact and engage their audience, making the book even more important.

For me, the power of the book is how Scott Fox combines his support for interaction with audiences with tried and tested internet marketing techniques. With an eye to engaging people and building community, the concepts presented are built for the longer term, for creating lifetime customers and loyal fans. Those readers seeking quick fixes to their internet marketing problems won't find them in this book. That is a good thing. A business built on trust, engagement, and community will have a much longer life, and also be more profitable. The author's emphasis on building an audience through multiple Web 2.0 concepts including online video, audio podcasting, and text based blogs and social media, demonstrates a commitment to the community. By offering the desired information in the form preferred by each individual in the audience, Scott Fox shows interaction with his communities.

I highly recommend the idea packed book e-Riches 2.0: Next-Generation Marketing Strategies for Making Millions Online by Scott Fox, to anyone seeking a reliable, open, and honest approach to building a long term internet business. At the same time, the book demonstrates that community building and audience engagement are profitable business. Every chapter contains solid ideas that can be utilized by both novice internet marketers, and by veteran online business people looking for advice on integrating Web 2.0 into their companies.

Read the very useful online marketing guide e-Riches 2.0: Next-Generation Marketing Strategies for Making Millions Online by Scott Fox, and learn how to leverage the cost effective and powerful marketing tools available on Web 2.0 to build a successful internet marketing business.

Denver International Airport NWO Meets The Apocalypse

This will be part of an on going series of posts concerning what has been dubbed “The New World Order”  and its “conspiracy” against all of free humanity. I will present to you  tangible evidence to show you that what is going on is not coincidence, but rather by design. It has been said if you look hard enough you can see anything you want in this world. I disagree, and submit instead that their are no coincidences.
I hope by the end of this series you will be awake to the fact that evil truly does exist and has manifested itself through truly wicked people doing very wretched things. Their greed and lust for power and domain over others who they deem not worthy knows no end and for this reason you should know the truth and prepare yourself. Once you are aware of what is going on it is your duty as a good person to tell those that do not know. This may not readily present any fruit but our job is to start brush fires in the hearts and minds of the public and overcome the wicked who have perpetrated these evil doings against us all.

Let us start this bizarre journey in a very real place which was recently constructed. Unless you travel often your probably not going to be familiar with what will be disclosed. Please ask yourself why no one has thought to mention any of this in the past.

Denver International Airport

Basic Facts: The airport construction was started in 1995 on 34,000 acres. During its construction the Stapleton International airport was shut down. This in itself is at first glace nothing to think about, but upon closer examination Stapelton had more Runways and Gates.  The initial cost of construction for DIA was $1.7 billion USD. At the competition of the project the final bill $4.8 billion USD. That is  $3.1 BILLION USD over budget.  Many irregularities have been reported regarding the construction of the site:

  • Different contractors have been hired for different parts of the airport. They’ve all been fired after their job was done. This lead observers to believe that it was a strategy to make sure nobody had the full scope of the project.

  • 110 million cubic yards of earth have been moved, way more than usually required. This arose suspicion of construction taking place underground. This is 1/3 of the total dirt moved for the Panama Canal.

  • 5300 miles of fiber optics were installed for communications (USA coast to coast is 3000 miles in comparison).

  • Fueling system that can pump 1000 gallons of jet fuel per minute. This amount is totally absurd for a commercial airport.

  • Granite imported from all over the world even though the project was already grossly over budget.

  • The entire roof of DIA is made of 15 acres of Teflon-coated, woven fiber glass. The same material is on the inside as a layer, as well. The roof is comprised of huge, spiked tent-like structures. The material reflects 90% of the sunlight and doesn’t conduct heat. So you can’t see into the place with radar or see heat signatures.
  • Notice the runways form a swastika? What is that about?
Compared to any other air port in the world it is very unique. All this and it only averages 36million passengers a year.
Now let’s take a quick drive and see what all the hub-bub is about.
As we cruise in from the highway to visit the airport guess what you see… The Pale Horse Of The Apocalypse… Yea, no kidding look and see yourself. It has RED glowing eyes at night to boot. This is not something any normal person would expect to see.

Don’t worry it has only killed one person so far, and that is fact. The designer was killed after completing the scupture when it fell on him killing him instantly…
So what does your brain tell you so far? What does your heart say? The evidence is starting to stack up and we have not even finished the soup appetizer about this subject yet. Hang on folks this gets much worse the closer we get.
Tomorrow we will walk into the airport and show you the murals that are 20 feet tall. Visions of death, the new world order, nazi storm troopers, and aliens.
Here is a taste of what is to come tomorrow. Remember this is a family friendly air port. Riiiiight.

As you are well aware a suspicious 'crate' was placed aboard the cruise ship Norwegian Star in California. Norwegian Star docked in Victoria B.C. near the Olympics. HMCS Whitehorse returned to port near where Norwegian Star docked. It put to see after Norwegian Star's arrival. Possibility 'crate' changed hands. HMCS Whitehorse sailing in circles off Galiano Island. CCGS Neocalipus has moored near HMCS Whitehorse. It is a Coast Guard fisheries vessel. The M.V. Carrier Princess was approaching. She is designated cargo HAZARD A MAJOR. She is a roll on roll off ship. If she gets the 'crate', it could be transferred to a truck and released on the mainland. Neocalipus and Carrier Princess both traversed Active Pass. Then there's Minot AFB doing a chemical biological drill loading up 24 B-52's

You might want to check out the Norwegian Star. She is an 1800 passenger cruise ship that was diverted at the last minute to be a floating hotel for security forces at the Olympics. The odd thing is she was brought here to Los Angeles, CA (where I work) and was tied up for four days waiting for "a crate to arrive", according to the crew. The crew was not eve allowed onboard while they were waiting - they had to stay in a local hotel which is where I ran into one of them.

The Norwegian Star is presently sailing on a course of 319 degress at 21.5 knots. Her destination is dry dock in Victoria. She has been scrubbed as a hotel vessel at the Olympics. The reason is supposed to be poor bookings. The tipster said she was to house security services. We cannot confirm the insertion of materials, but it makes no sense to remove the crew.

: BEHOLD THE PALE HORSE:
As we track the movements of the Norwegian Star and see it dock in Victoria (grey track) with its suspicious 'crate', we wonder how the package will get through the security cordone. In scripture and in modern verse a book written by the late William Cooper suggests behold the pale horse. In port with the Norwegian Star is HMCS Whitehorse. She is a pale horse that can easily traverse the security cordone. So beware the pale horse mes amis.

Whitehorse's previous course in its approach was 119 degrees. GET IT. A reverse 911.
